In recent years, the segment of smartphones specially designed for games has evolved. These types of smartphones are equipped with many features specially designed to obtain the maximum possible performance from their hardware. However, that doesn’t mean that many ‘classic’ flagship phones are still great options for gaming.

Recently, the Xiaomi 12S flagship smartphone series was launched. Among these, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra stands out especially, although all models boast the powerful and efficient chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Thanks to the efficiency of the new hardware platform, 12S Pro and Ultra managed to beat the iPhone 13 Pro Max in autonomy.

But, it seems that the dominance of Xiaomi’s premium flagship is not just about battery life. Now, a gaming performance test between the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and the iPhone 13 Pro Max has revealed some surprising results. The results showed that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra outperformed the iPhone 13 Pro Max in gaming performance.

So the 12S Ultra places itself ahead of both traditional Android flagships in this regard, and ahead of the most premium Apple phone available.

The phone’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor again shows that it’s a vast improvement over its predecessor – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Extreme testing revealed that the 12S Ultra achieved higher frame rates (an average of 588fps) than all other major phones of 2022. The terminal also did not suffer from overheating during the harsh tests.

Basically, the 12S Ultra was the best performer among all phones tested. The tests included flagship products from Apple and Samsung, including the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the iPhone SE 2022, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

To see any device above the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, we have to go to the iPad Mini 6 tablet, which is powered by the A15 Bionic chipset and achieved a higher frame rate than the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has a larger main camera sensor than most phones, a 6.73-inch OLED panel, and 67W charging support for its 4,860mAh battery. You can check out our dedicated coverage to learn everything about the device.
