According to a report from Miuipolska, the Redmi Pad will be equipped with a new MediaTek chipset. At the moment the commercial name that the Taiwanese supplier will have this future hardware is unknown. However, it is said to be identified by the model number MT8781.
According to the report, the new hardware platform that will power the Redmi Pad will be manufactured by TSMC on a 6nm process. Regarding its power, it is said that it will be similar to that offered by a Helio G99, which is expected to boost to the future POCO M5. Therefore, the tablet will clearly target the mid-range segment.
The new MediaTek SoC will have an 8-core CPU. 2x Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz will be present. In charge of graphics will be a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. These specifications are also available on the Helio G99. The new chip will include support for LPDDR4x RAM and internal storage in either UFS 2.2 or eMMC 5.1 formats.
The MediaTek MT8781 chip will support a maximum resolution camera of 108 megapixels and a front camera of 32 megapixels (or a pair of 16 megapixels). It will offer 2K video encoding/decoding at 30fps and will support H.264, H.265 and VP9 codecs.
The future chip will be able to support screens in a maximum resolution of 1,200 x 2,000 pixels at a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It will also offer other features such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2 and LTE. However, it will lack 5G connectivity.
The Redmi Pad is unlikely to support mobile networks as there is no mention of any IMEI number in its FCC documents. At the moment most of the tablet’s key specifications are being kept under wraps. In any case, everything indicates that its launch will not take long to take place.
