The OPPO Reno 8 line of phones is about to have a launch in international markets. After its arrival on the Chinese market in May, the brand’s followers in the global market have been on the lookout for these devices for the premium mid-range segment.

Currently, the OPPO Reno line is focused on offering premium designs and a solvent photographic section. Now, before the arrival in the markets outside of China, the company revealed a very interesting addition that the OPPO Reno 8 enjoys, and it is their new MariSilicon X NPU.

High-end MariSilicon X NPU for OPPO Reno 8 series

For those who don’t know, the Chinese industry giant announced this chip in December 2021. The hardware in question was directly intended for the high-end Find X series. Now this same NPU too It’s coming to the Reno 8 series.

Rumors had previously surfaced that had revealed this information. But, now it is the same brand that officially compares the news along with some improvements to its MariSilicon X platform. According to the official notes, the 6nm MariSilicon X NPU will help bring dedicated end-to-end image processing to the Reno 8 series. .

The advantages offered by the MariSilicon X chip to enhance photography

Thanks to proprietary algorithms, the company has developed a new way to accurately reproduce all skin tones. In addition, the chipset allows you to record videos with portrait mode in real time. OPPO’s AI can even distinguish between skin blemishes and beauty spots. Similarly, it intelligently applies different levels of skin beautification and smoothing based on the age and gender of the subject.

OPPO Reno 8 series MariSilicon X chip and optimizations will also help improve HDR performance in wide exposure shots without user intervention.

The NPU contains 3.6 billion transistors and can perform up to 18 trillion operations per second (18 TOPS). It is based on a 6nm process and is also capable of real-time lossless AI processing.

Basically, the MariSilicon takes the responsibility of being a hardware especially dedicated to processing everything related to photography and video, freeing the phone’s main chipset from these tasks, speeding up the process and in turn increasing the quality of the final results.

Finally, as a reminder, the OPPO Reno 8 series integrates the 50-megapixel IMX766 main camera, whose high-level capabilities will surely take advantage of the possibilities of the chip.
